Who Are The Influencers In Real Estate And Why Are They Influencers?
The real estate industry has many influencers. Those influencers include top producers, brand name brokerages, local associations, state associations and the National Association of REALTORS®. In addition to these influencers the real estate industry has diverse groups that have been leading the way in their local, state and national communities. These groups have paved the way for many real estate agents that many not have otherwise been able to succeed in business. Many of these organization dig deeper into building relationships among agents that had to fight to compete in real estate in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and business in the 20th Century. Today these organizations educate, train and help others understand the importance of diversity, understanding how different groups think, and the benefits of building strong relationships.
Listed below are organizations and the communities they serve in no particular order.
Women’s Council of REALTORS® – The Women’s Council of REALTORS has influenced the real estate industry since the 1930’s. Today this organization is training current leaders in their leadership academy. These agents are generating more than $100 million is commissions collectively and has over 11,000 members nationwide.
National Association of Real Estate Professionals – REALTIST – NAREB was founded in 1947 to by African American real estate professionals to secure the right to home ownership regardless of race, creed or color. NAREB continues to advocate for fairness in home ownership by educating real estate professionals and fighting at the local, state and national level to maintain fair housing for all. Check out the meaning of the term “REALTIST”. Why? There was a time when a black person could not be a REALTOR.
National Association of Hispanic REALTORS® – NAHREP is the voice of Hispanic real estate. This organization is educating real estate professionals on the state of the Hispanic community and a champion for home ownership. The organization advocates for public policy and bridges the gap while building relationships with industry stakeholders.
Asian Real Estate Association of America – AREAA was founded in 2003 to help sustain opportunities in the Asian community by being a voice for public policy and advocating for the Asian community.
The National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals – THE NAGLREP was established in 2007. “The advocacy mission of NAGLREP is to advocate on behalf of the rights of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community as it relates to housing and discrimination laws.”
REALTOR® Political Action Committee – RPAC’s Mission “is to identify candidates for elected office on the local, state and national levels who will work with REALTORS® to promote and protect the American Dream of home ownership. Candidates that receive support from RPAC are not selected based on their political party or ideology, but solely on their support of real estate issues. Our legislative allies are members of the REALTOR® Party. The REALTOR® Party supports the issues that are important to your business as a REALTOR®, regardless of political party affiliation.”
These organizations are challenged with the task to educate the real estate professional on diversity, market dynamics, trends, real estate policy, technology and more. However, beyond the real estate professional, these organizations advocate for public policy to protect the American Dream.
