When it comes to social media, it’s truly the easiest way to build a brand, engage with others, and generate new business — all at no cost. However, you have to put in the work.
The first social media platform I joined was NING. I found all of my high school friends with that tool. Then, on April 3rd, 2008, I joined Facebook — and not because I wanted to!
Fun fact: Today, I was able to log into my old MySpace account. Do you remember MySpace?
Before we hop into today’s topic, “Scaling with Social: When DIY Stops Working and It’s Time to Hire,” let’s start with a few questions:
- Do you even like social media?
(This will help you decide quickly if you should hire someone, do it yourself, or maybe even pivot toward more traditional real estate strategies.) - How is social media working for you right now?
- What do you want from it — followers, engagement, likes, or leads?
What you want out of social media will be different from what I want. And that’s perfectly okay.
Now, let’s really dig in —
Who here wants to hire someone to manage their social media, create content, or handle engagement?
Who here wants to scale their brand?
There are so many questions to answer — and guess what? You don’t have to know all the answers today.
But first things first: scaling on social media starts here.
Step 1: Do a Social Media Audit
Are you gaining traction, engagement, likes, followers, or leads?
Step 2: Look at Your Insights
Check your analytics. As of today, my Reels views are up 96.3%, and I’ve reached 498K non-followers — and it all started because Marc gave me a kiss on my birthday! (Clearly, people are looking for love or just enjoy seeing real life. Yes, I’m slightly embarrassed to watch that replay. But hey, Marc really does love me!)
Step 3: Ask Your Friends and Network to Audit Your Social Media
Would they want to scroll through your feed? Would they engage? Sometimes it’s worth archiving a few old posts based on their honest feedback.
Step 4: Post Consistently
Every day is best. But if not, just be consistent every week.
If you need a simple strategy:
- Post once, twice, or three times a week.
- Post when your audience is most active (or post when you find yourself scrolling aimlessly — because if you’re scrolling, so are they!).
Step 5: Use Canva Templates
Keep it simple! Make basic edits to the pre-created templates. Don’t overthink your graphics.
Step 6: Record Yourself Working
Capture simple “day in the life” videos, and then add a voiceover later if you’re not ready to speak directly on camera.
Step 7: Post Short Video Reels
Short-form still works! If you add text to your videos, make sure it’s easy to read.
Step 8: Carousels Are Winning Right Now
Create posts that users can swipe through. Instagram is pushing carousels again — even posting two images instead of one can increase your reach.
Step 9: Clean Up Your Profile
Ask yourself: Is your social media clean, crazy, or does it need a full reboot?
Now, Should You Hire Someone?
Ask yourself these questions:
✅ I don’t like social media.
✅ I can afford to hire help.
✅ I’m not willing to create my own content.
✅ I’m willing to stay involved, but I’m too busy closing deals.
✅ I want to create my own content but need help with execution.
If you answered “yes” to any of these — it might be time to hire.
Important Things to Know Before You Hire:
- You still have to train your content creator — at least on your brand, tone, and goals.
- Start with a Brand Assessment.
- Research them!
- Look at their own social media.
- Do you like their content style?
- Does it make sense for real estate?
- They don’t need a huge following.
- They just need to be good at what you need: content creation, brand growth, or redefining your image.
- Make sure they have the ability to deliver what you need.
- Are they creating strategic content?
- Are they helping you get visible to your ideal audience?
Social media is no longer just optional — it’s a powerful tool for visibility, credibility, and growth. Whether you’re still DIY-ing it or realizing it’s time to hire help, the goal is the same: to show up consistently and build your brand with purpose.
Scaling doesn’t mean giving up control. It means getting support so you can focus on what you do best. ✨
Stay consistent. Stay visible. Stay true to your brand — and watch your business grow!
